As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll have an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in the success of our objectives by advancing personalization in Direct Property Quoting (DPQ). In DPQ, we are the business owners of our property quoting platforms in the direct channel, including HomeQuote Explorer. As a Data Scientist within DPQ you will focus on building and deploying real-time ML models to help personalize the quoting and insurance selection process. You will work as part of a broader team dedicated to making the Progressive home quoting process the best it can be for our customers. This position is a “Full Stack” Data Scientist and will be responsible for the entire Data Science life cycle, from problem statement and model development all the way to model deployment in a production environment. You can expect an opportunity to: grow and shape a newly established data science organization within DPQ; develop real-time ML models used to optimize the direct property quoting process; leverage cloud computing platforms, full SDLC (software development lifecycle), common modeling and software development frameworks (Scikit-learn, git, Jenkins, pytest); serve as a machine learning SME and have a high degree of ownership over Data Science process and models within DPQ and collaborate with business leaders on personalization roadmap and model performance.

Must-have qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher with quantitative focus in Econometrics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science or related field (e.g. Mathematics).
  • In lieu of the above, Bachelor's degree with quantitative focus in Econometrics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science or related field (e.g. Mathematics) and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in Statistical/Quantitative Modeling and/or Machine Learning tools (R, Python, etc.) and in using various database tools (e.g. Hadoop, SQL) processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Statistical/Quantitative Modeling and/or Machine Learning tools (R, Python, etc.) and in using various database tools (e.g. Hadoop, SQL) processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.

Preferred skills

  • Skilled in Linux, Bash & highly proficient in Python
  • Desire to work closely with analysts and consultants
  • Experience deploying machine learning models in production, especially in cloud
  • Familiarity with statistical/probabilistic modeling techniques

Compensation

  • $80,300 - $131,500/year depending on position level and experience
  • Gainshare bonus up to 30% - 40% (depending on position level) of your eligible earnings based on company performance
