The EMEA Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) team supports all business activity across 39 countries in the region and serves all functions. This includes working closely with all functions across the EMEA region, including: Supplier Management, Demand Planning, Sales Planning, Nike Direct, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Pricing, Marketing, Customer Insight, as well as the global team in the US, and its counterparts in other regions.


We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our ED&A team to work within our engineering squads to develop and deliver high-quality software solutions that solve specific business problems and grow Nike’s digital businesses.

You will join a team of fellow engineers that nurture an engineering culture with its roots in diversity, inclusion and equality. As a team we embrace a DevOps culture and have a can-do mentality. We own the products we build and support.

The candidate will have a passion for data, have a strong grasp of data engineering paradigms and bring an engineering experience that will help innovate and improve how we build our solutions.


If this is you, you will be working on technical solutions that serve other engineering, data, or business-facing teams. Our technical solutions serve the end-to-end breadth of Nike, from building foundational data capabilities, crafting analytical products to help the Nike business make better decisions, to optimizing our supply chain enabling our business to run as efficiently as possible.

We run agile squads where transparency and trust are key, and collectively bring a culture of excellence and continuous improvement to the organization.

You will be coaching and mentoring junior team members. Ensure your squad follows the established standards and guidelines. Define and implement strategies to improve integration and efficiency.

We build our products to run reliable and at scale. This means you will be asked to code your infrastructure and automatically build, test and deploy your creations. Quality is built into our solutions upfront, with a testing and quality mentality being a key attribute of our team. You will provide support by writing documentation and tutorials as well as providing mentorship to users with a variety of technical skills.


You will be part of an agile scrum team, closely working with the Product Owner, Scrum Master and other team members that drive to deliver innovative data solutions. Advising product and business owners on specific technology-related aspects required to deliver solutions accurately.

Key partnership with Principal Engineer, Solution Architect, Engineering Leadership and platform teams to identify best solutions and ensure optimal implementation and delivery.

Through our communities of practice, you will interact with engineers from multiple other squads to help define Nike’s engineering culture, standards and best practices, advocating for engineering excellence and innovation.

You will be reporting into engineering leadership, who will guide you to grow and build your career path.

  • You have education, professional credentials, and/or demonstratable expertise in Computer Science, Engineering, or Numerate Discipline
  • 6+ years experience in building data engineering solutions
  • A strong proficiency in Python, Spark and data engineering paradigms
  • A proven ability to solve sophisticated data engineering problems
  • A knowledge of object-oriented programming and design
  • Experienced in structured & unstructured data, data lakes, scheduling and orchestration
  • You have good knowledge of Cloud Computing, Containerisation, CI/CD and DevOps
  • You have proven skills in one or more technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Snowflake,
  • Experienced in SQL, NoSQL and database design
  • A knowledge of API and microservices architecture is preferable.
  • Quality vs speed mindset, with testing experience of some of the most common tools in the market (PyTest, Nose, Behave, etc.)
  • Ability to lead by example and interact with various stakeholders, technical or business wise
