As a data engineer, you will help internal and external consumers to leverage the data generated by our hardware and software. You will share in the ownership of our data infrastructure, from ingress through transformation and access/integration. You will work cross-functionally with infrastructure, platform services, product, and other teams to enable productionalized ML models, product applications, API resources, automated reporting, and clinical analyses. Data is the primary source of value for patients and our partners, and through the maintenance and augmentation of these pipelines, you will contribute to the improved outcomes for patients and Propeller’s commercial success.

What We’re Looking For

  • 1-2 years of experience working as a member of an engineering team

  • 1-2 years experience in data engineering or related role, or equivalent academic experience

  • Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Biology, Computer Science, or other relevant field

  • Expertise in Python & PySpark

  • Expertise in developing scalable ETLs and data processes

  • Proficiency in AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, S3 (or equivalents)

  • Proficiency in Terraform and/or deploying infrastructure from code

  • Proficiency with AWS Lambda, SQS, Kinesis Firehose (or equivalents i.e Kafka/streaming data)

  • Experience working with structured and semi-structured data architectures

  • A track record of success working with data professionals

  • A track record of success transforming data to support various consumers

  • Adept at communicating both verbally and in writing

  • Highly meticulous and organized

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity in SQL

  • Familiarity with range of AWS resources

  • Familiarity with shell scripts

  • Familiarity with Tableau/BI tooling

  • Proficiency in data architecture

  • Masters in a CS, Analytics, or other relevant field is a plus

What You Will Do

  • Support new internal and external use cases for our data infrastructure and contribute to determination of the best data resources for a given purpose

  • Contribute to maintenance and augmentation of the ETL

  • Translate business priorities and data team needs into engineering initiatives and execute in coordination with the rest of data engineering

  • Work closely with others on the data engineering team to design and implement efficient and comprehensive pipelines

  • Contribute to the scalability of both data infrastructure and team processes, standards, and workflow

  • Support QA to ensure a high standard of quality at all levels of the analytics pipeline, ranging from operational efficiency of the ETL to the accuracy of data reporting
