ABOUT US Medisoft is the UK’s leading provider of software for hospital Ophthalmology services and private eye clinics. Our main product, Medisoft Ophthalmology, is used routinely at over 90 hospitals worldwide to help clinical teams assess vision defects and save sight. Our innovative new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, mediSIGHT® is used by around 70 organisations and will replace Medisoft Ophthalmology as Medisoft’s flagship product, consolidating over 20 years of product development and user feedback. The recording of structured data within the EMR software enables the extraction of rich, anonymised clinical datasets which can be merged with data from other centres. These multi-centre datasets, often with several million data points, provide valuable evidence to support studies and research resulting in improved care and outcomes for patients. ABOUT YOU We are looking for an experienced Medical Statistician/Data Scientist to join our expanding Data Services team. The analysis of data, in a regulated and controlled manner, is an important growth area for the company and this is an exciting opportunity to join us in a key role, taking a lead on the design, development and delivery of studies using real-world Ophthalmology EMR datasets. The successful candidate will be thorough and systematic with a keen eye for detail. Excellent technical ability and a proven aptitude for problem-solving are essential. They will be proactive in their approach and confident dealing with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external alike. Key responsibilities include: Development of study protocols, statistical analysis plans (SAPs) and reports Cleaning and preparing real-world EMR data extracts Conduct statistical analysis on real-world datasets as per study protocol/SAP Quality Assurance of statistical results and outputs Preparing and presenting statistical analysis results Supporting the preparation and development of abstracts and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals Acting as a mentor to less experienced team members Project management of assigned studies Support Business Development activities, including proposal development Candidates must be able to demonstrate: PhD or MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data/Computer Science or related discipline Extensive knowledge of statistical modelling techniques and proficiency using statistical programming packages such as R and Python Proficient working with relational database structures preferably MSSQL Experience in analysing large and complex real-world (Medical) datasets Experience managing multiple projects with competing timelines Ability to engage with a broad range of people across different business functions Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Excellent numerical and analytical skills and a proven aptitude for problem-solving Meticulous attention to detail Desirable additional criteria: Experience working with Ophthalmology data a significant advantage Experience of working with complex Healthcare datasets and coding definitions Knowledge of Machine Learning Techniques and/or Deep Learning methods, including image-based algorithms Previous experience in large-scale data mining or Artificial Intelligence.
