This role is a manager / Lead Data Scientist. Your key responsibility will be to lead the data science team in our objective to deliver current pieces of work as well as to identify new opportunities for data science in the market. The primary sector the team currently operates in is financial crime, this will continue alongside any other sectors expand into.
The work the team has done around financial crime has helped banks improve their KYC and AML processes, optimising them as well as making them more sophisticated in their capability to identify complex financial crime typologies.There is also an expectation to contribute to the community feel and supporting the diversity of our team. The Role in summary
Identify new data science opportunities through positive relationships with KPMG and client stakeholders.
Managing a team of 5-10 data engineers & scientists, this will involve both project and people management.
Manage the delivery of data science solutions through design, documentation, agile delivery and deployment.
Challenge existing solutions and assumptions using an objective scientific approach, continuing to push client deliverables to be of the highest standard.
Assist with proposals, bids and business development.
Utilise your technical understanding of Python/R, SQL, and cloud technology to best deliver data science solutions.
Rely on strong understandings of machine learning and deep learning for selecting the correct models and their applications as well as open-source coding libraries such as tensorflow, Keras and SkLearn.
Run demonstrations of previous work and continue to build the catalogue of solutions the team has delivered.
Advanced knowledge of Python and SQL
Knowledge of machine learning and deep learning algorithms for supervised, semi-supervised and unsupervised applications
Experience working in cloud environments - AWS / Azure / GCP / IBM
Good knowledge of code version control technologies - Jenkins / BitBucket / GitHub
Knowledge of statistics and applications.
Experience building positive working relationships with stakeholders and/or clients.
Has used APIs to connect to data sources, understanding the benefits on third party data.
Familiar with code optimisation techniques such as O(n) notation.
Happy to present to internal teams and expand networks inside & outside the firm.
