About The Role
As a Data Scientist in the Global Strategy & Planning team's Competition Analytics vertical, you will play a key role in supporting Uber's global delivery operations. You will sit at the intersection of data analytics and strategy, driving our competitive intelligence initiatives. This role involves working on the full lifecycle of competitive data, building infrastructure, and creating actionable insights for leadership and regional teams.
What You Will Do
- Support leadership and regional teams by validating competition trends and synthesizing findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Translate ambiguous business questions into robust analyses and ensure recommendations are implemented, driving business outcomes.
- Build and maintain the global competition data infrastructure, facilitating access to critical data across teams.
- Develop end-to-end data flows, including ingestion, quality assurance, and dashboard development to monitor business KPIs.
- Create dashboards and visualizations for competitive insights and support tactical sales strategies.
- Build models such as lead scoring algorithms and competitive overlap detection to identify key opportunities for growth.
What You Will Need
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and pipeline development.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Math, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or Computer Science).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data pipelines (Airflow, ETL/ELT), API handling, Git versioning, and web scraping.
- Knowledge of competitive intelligence tools and methodologies.
- Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to derive insights from complex data and make data-driven decisions.
- Proven problem-solving ability in ambiguous situations, with a focus on practical execution.
- Clear and concise communicator, capable of presenting data insights to varied audiences.
- A self-starter attitude with a passion for driving insights and solving strategic challenges.
- The ability to balance detail-oriented work with swift execution and collaboration across remote teams.
