The Lead Data Scientist role will report into the Chief Data and Analytics Officer, and will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to drive efficiency and improved performance across all aspects of the business.
The successful candidate will be a business-oriented, collaborative, high-energy data scientist who is both passionate about leveraging automated machine learning technology to solve real-world problems and about leading a team of data scientists and engineers.
What You Will Do:
Collaborate with the business to execute on identified opportunities for deploying machine learning and AI solutions to drive revenue and cost savings.
Balance leading and directly contributing to the framing, data preparation, development, and documentation of ML and AI models and solutions.
Partner with the Technology team to test and deploy ML and AI solutions, and in monitoring and managing the health and performance of those solutions in production.
Effectively lead 2 to 4 domestic and/or off-shore individual contributors.
Support the efforts of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer to ensure our data and solutions are trusted by helping to champion high standards, transparency, and regular communication with the business.
Explore and test additional data sources that may add value.
Consult the technical literature or adopt new software when necessary to design and implement novel solutions to business problems.
Advise and lead and/or execute simulation and analytics projects.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, or physics.
5+ years of experience as a data scientist in industry, including leading the development of machine learning models and implementing them into production.
Experience successfully leading a team.
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication.
Working knowledge of Python, SQL, and open-source machine learning packages, like xgboost.
Experience with or desire to learn new automated machine learning and related software.
Flexible and productive in a hybrid remote/in-office arrangement.
What Makes You Special:
Masters Degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, or physics.
Experience in banking or insurance.
Experience working with external Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
