Data Engineer

Overview

HKS Dallas is seeking a Data Engineer.

Contributes and assists in developing solutions for the design and development of ETL solutions while working independently with guidance. Leads the design and implementation of solutions ranging from traditional data warehouse feeds, data lake feeds, and EDI with external vendors. Eager to learn and innovate. Anticipates job expectations while performing design and technical tasks requiring application of standard techniques and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and troubleshooting of production ETL and EDI processes
• Performs development of extract, transform, and load processes for the data warehouse
• Develops and consistently provides improvements to all data movement activities
• Performs development of EDI solutions with various vendors
• Contributes to selection of ETL tools, and design and architecture of ETL systems and procedures
• Works with and develops semantic models for reporting use
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Typically with 3 – 5 years of experience with ETL tools
• Azure and SQL Server certifications preferred
• Experience with the full Microsoft SQL Server stack and Azure cloud data technologies required
• Experience with Data Factory/Synapse pipelines preferred
• Experience with data modeling preferred
• Experience with Power BI preferred
• Experience in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook and Word
• Strong customer service, interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff
• Strong work ethic and eagerness to produce high quality, accurate results
• Ability to hold sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and integrity
• Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
• Ability to proactively problem solve and apply innovative solutions
• Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment, and ability to work independently and prioritize work
• Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
• Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
