Primary Function:

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Data Analyst coordinate data for the evaluation of system-wide documentation outcomes including Quality and Safety, Case Mix Index, Major Comorbid and Comorbid capture rate, Mortality, and other associated outcomes. Compiling and sharing data in a meaningful way while identifying opportunities for excellence in health, clinical outcomes, and performance improvement to further enhance the practice of Clinical Documentation Specialists and therefore documenting providers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates the effect of Clinical Documentation Integrity and documenting providers by identifying and compiling data from multiple sources and databases to produce comprehensive reports.

  • Uses Vizient and other benchmarking data sources for comparative analysis.

  • Maintains basic understanding of medical terminology and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and basic statistical analysis for reports.

  • Assess appropriate inclusion/exclusion of data based on defined data dictionary; assists in evaluation of data dictionaries.

  • Establishes and performs quality control checks for assigned data collection and reporting

  • Participates, when appropriate, on targeted teams to ensure data integrity, facilitates data analysis and synthesis.

  • Identifies issues with data collection methods, when present, and identifies data collection resolution

  • Develops provider and CDI specific report cards to identify providers high and low performing providers.

  • Maintains up to date data sources and collections on periodic basis without prompting.

  • Provides ad hoc reports as advised.

  • Advances knowledge of current computer software and demonstrates ability to learn and apply new technology, concepts and software applications and assimilate them into daily work routine.

  • Participate as appropriate in Committees to disseminate clear, concise, substantial evaluations of documentation Processes or Clinical Effectiveness initiatives.

  • Assures methods for the evaluation of documentation / coding processes or Clinical Effectiveness initiatives meet/exceed accreditation, regulatory, and institutional standards.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient/members and staff information; compliant with HIPPA regulations.

  • Maintain required credentials; assume responsibility for ongoing professional growth; exhibit a high level of professionalism; act as role model for staff and others in the organization.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Healthcare related, Finance, Business or IT field required.

  • Three to five years of experience in database development, maintenance and manipulation is required.

  • Vizient experience required.

  • Education and or experience in one or more of the following are preferred: healthcare software packages, performance improvement or outcomes analysis, utilization management and project management. Experience with technologies such as Tableau, Qlikview, Alteryx, Minitab, Reporting Services preferred.
