Your responsibilities:

  • Mondi’s Digital Excellence (DX) team drives maximum value from data and develops analytics solutions, which provide strategic advantages in our day-to-day operations. Being part of the team, you will develop solutions for the challenges of our Business Units – from concept, via model building, up to the actual implementation.
  • You will work in interdisciplinary teams consisting of other colleagues of Mondi DX as well as domain experts from our respective Business Units. As part of our DX Team you will participate in challenging projects within a successful, dynamic and flexible environment. This will give you the opportunity to unfold (y)our true potential within Mondi!

Your profile:

  • BSc/MSc/PhD in a related field, e.g. Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or Physics
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in applying operations research and/or data science methods on real time data in business (operational and commercial) context
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in implementing mathematical models, heuristics, meta-heuristics and statistical modelling to procurement problems, VRPs, scheduling, planning or multicommodity network flow problems
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language, experience with scripting languages such as R and Python will be valued
  • Experience with mathematical modelling languages such as AMPL, GAMS, AIMMS or modelling frameworks such as Pyomo, PuLP or JuMP
  • Familiarity with LP/MILP/NLP solvers such as CPLEX, Gurobi, XPRESS, SCIP, IPOpt or Knitro. Knowledge of meta-heuristic approachs such as genetic algorithms, GRASP or tabu search
  • Knowledge of some typical frameworks, such as mlr, caret, NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, Spark ML, Keras, TensorFlow or Theano
  • Good presentation and communication skills, explaining complex analytics concepts to a diverse set of clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Comfortable in an agile working environment
  • Willing to travel up to 50%
  • Fluent in English; German or other languages will be valued

Our offer:

  • Start: immediate start date possible, considering your availability (e.g. notice period)
  • Location: Group office Vienna – Marxergasse 4A, 1030 Vienna
  • Duration: unlimited contract
  • Extent: full-time, 38 hours/week, all-in contract
  • Ref. Austrian “Bundes-Gleichbehandlungsgesetz”: The position is subject to the Austrian collective agreement of the “Papierverarbeitende Industrie” with a legal minimum wage of € 41,595.96 gross/year on a full-time basis plus overpayment. The overpayment is determined by the qualification of the jobholder.
