The Data Analyst works as a member of the Research Intelligence team at the Office of the Vice-President, Research and International (VPRI) and is responsible for providing quantitative and qualitative information analysis and reporting to support strategic decision and policy-making by the university's senior administration. The Data Analyst researches, compiles information, conducts analyses, and prepares reports on a variety of issues for internal uses and also for dissemination to external agencies. The role assists in the development, updating, and management of data and information in the VPRI portfolio databases and contributes to the design and development of information systems and the identification of the university's future information needs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Quantitative Science (Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics preferred), Business Administration, or Social Sciences (with a data focus), and three years of related experience including experience in research methods, statistical analysis, survey methodologies, and programming, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Excellent knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python/R).

Excellent knowledge of relational databases (e.g., SQL).

Excellent writing skills (specifically, writing technical and statistical reports).

Excellent knowledge and experience with data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Matplotlib, R visualization libraries).

Good knowledge of research methods, statistics, and performance measurement and assessment.

Good knowledge of survey methodology, administration, and analysis.

Good knowledge of data structures and data relationships of systems and specifically the ability to use query tools to quickly obtain accurate and relevant information.

Good knowledge of designing databases.

Good knowledge of the issues concerning higher education at universities and other post-secondary institutions.

Knowledge of web development and web technologies an asset (e.g., JavaScript, HTML/CSS).

Strong data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when responding to requests for data and information.

Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy and to perform duties in a professional manner.

Ability to collaborate with others in the collection and analysis of data.

Ability to work as a member of a team.
