We’re seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to help establish and grow a high-performing data science team in commercial analytics. In this role, you will be responsible for driving data insights and solutions from within SCIEX’s Global Commercial Operations & Enablement (GCOE) team. You will develop an expert understanding of SCIEX datasets, data warehousing/governance, and data visualization while also serving as a representative for the GCOE team within the broader SCIEX organization. This individual will possess both a technical and business acumen to conceptualize, build, and deliver complete solutions to stakeholders while maintaining and improving upon existing tools & architectures. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop subject matter expertise in a variety of data engineering fields while also building competency in core business principles within a leading Life Sciences organization.

In this position you will:
Engage with colleagues and leaders from the commercial, finance, marketing and IT teams to gather, analyze, and validate all requirements for daily business operations

Understand and address ambiguous business pain points and drive clarity through data storytelling and what-if scenarios

Become a SCIEX commercial data subject matter expert, and help develop a commercial operations data dictionary

Work with data integration teams to define and load data sources from multiple data warehouse systems to build and maintain automated workflows, data pipelines, and an automated test suite for data science DevOps

Constantly re-evaluate best practice tools and workflows for producing reliable predictive analytics implementations

Develop / contribute to internal Python libraries for data science

Participate in code reviews with the data science team

Collaborate with data science colleagues to deploy reliable, internal ML models and web application / API endpoints

The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Math/Statistics

Self-starter mindset: able to work independently with minimal guidance, keeps focus on the deliverables and quickly identifies any barriers to on time delivery

3-5+ years of experience solving business problems in an environment involving Python (data-science libraries in particular), Relational databases, REST APIs, Git, Automated testing, and Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)

Experience working effectively in a matrix organization, with geographically dispersed team members and a willingness to take ownership of future product releases

Strong systems/process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills, to convey results to a non-technical audience

Fluency in both written and spoken English

Working knowledge of Salesforce.com (or similar CRM) and Microsoft PowerBI (including DAX and Power Query) is a bonus

Prior experience administering containers and virtual environment management (e.g. Docker, Jupyter Hub) is a bonus
