Department Overview

The Insurance Analytics and Modelling team provides analytics and predictive models driven advice and counselling service to internal stakeholders, thereby enabling colleagues to have the right information to make business decisions impacting different stages of the insurance cycle and to improve customer journey.
Reporting to the Manager in the Model Factory team, the Data Scientist will need to support and work on the modeling framework in order to increase the team efficiency and improve the modeling life cycle.

Job Description


  • Develop and maintain a framework in order to improve modelling lifecycle and monitoring of the models.
  • Acting on the unit's mission and priorities, and making sure the unit delivers on the agreed objectives
  • Work on development of wide range of models within the team, including weather analysis, UBI, image recognition
  • Build a strong relationship with our partners, including Layer 6; collaborate with different teams to promote understanding of the models and engagement towards a deployment strategy.
  • Utilize multiple sources of data along with broad range of machine learning techniques in order to improve performance and interpretability of the models.
  • Facilitate transition to Hadoop and prepare transition to Azure
  • Ensuring high quality experiments are developed and tested, in a reproducible and replicable way.
  • Supporting a culture of risk management, compliance and control within modelling and analytics projects.
  • Continuously deepen knowledge of Machine Learning Pipeline and deployment practices.

Job Requirements

5 or more years of professional experience required
  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred.
  • Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer science, predictive models
  • Excellent communication skills, highly adaptable to different stakeholders
  • Excellent programming skills in languages including Python, PySpark, Scala, Java, SQL
  • Demonstrated experience applying predictive modelling techniques
  • Autonomous and perseverant; demonstrates initiative, creativity and promotes a positive team environment
  • Familiarity with Hadoop and Cloud ML environments, a plus
