Role: Senior Software Engineer

Clearance: BPSS (SC Clearable) / Active SC

Location: Remote Working

Timings: ASAP

Salary: £80,000 - £120,000 + 15% Bonus

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Work for a growing consultancy that has a strong focus on innovation and collaboration
  • Initially work for a high-profile client
  • Work within a development team, potentially playing a role in the development of new products and maintenance of existing products
  • Carry out development in accordance with the agreed requirements and development standards
  • Test products in accordance with the test strategy to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Assist Scrum Master in examining packages of work and giving realistic timescales for completion
  • Complete work allocated within agreed time, cost and quality criteria and provide progress reports on assigned work as required
  • Manage and control problems and change within their area of responsibility as requested by the Scrum Master, including negotiation with other teams as necessary
  • Prompt escalation of problems, issues, and risks as necessary
  • Play an active part in Process improvement, awareness of and compliance with all relevant quality processes and procedures, including completion of all the specified quality records

Essential Requirements:

  • STEM degree, 2:1 and above
  • 5+ years proven experience working on relevant software engineering projects
  • Proven experience on relevant data science projects
  • General AWS infrastructure skills, must be comfortable with Object Storage
  • Knowledge and proven experience with the following:
    • Python
    • PySpark
    • Linux
    • Docker, must be able to build containers
    • Big Data Analytics, comfortable with working with Hive and the Hadoop framework
    • Graph DB experience, ideally Neo4j
    • Gitlab or equivalent
  • Capable of working with challenging stakeholders and developers, able to negotiate and drive your ideas forward
  • Excellent interpersonal skills will be needed to build strong relationships that will be critical for the success of this role

Ideal:

  • Prior consultancy experience is highly desirable
  • Relevant industry recognised certifications
  • Knowledge and proven experience with the following:
  • o R Shiny
  • o Natural Language Processing
