Locus Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial applicant to join our team as a full-time Associate Data Engineer. This position is well suited for ambitious entry level individuals that are interested in learning cutting-edge cloud-based infrastructure and who desire to rapidly grow their technical skill set and career trajectory.
The primary responsibility for the position is to help establish and maintain a cloud-based infrastructure through the deployment, maintenance, and testing of automated analytical pipelines to facilitate higher throughput experimental data processing as the company grows. Additional responsibilities for this position will include managing software and hardware required for team-members and automation equipment to generate and maintain data.
An ideal candidate will have experience programming and working in the cloud, but more importantly will excel in their ability to quickly understand and solve problems. An enthusiasm and curiosity for micro and molecular biology is necessary as well as the ability to communicate effectively in formal and informal settings and work well within a team.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with automation of analysis pipelines
Automated analysis pipeline maintenance and improvements as well as testing, validation, and quality control checks.
Deployment of analysis pipelines using cloud infrastructure.
Integration of pipelines with databases, data lake layers, and visualization software.
Managing software licenses for the company
Solving and managing IT requests
Contributing to infrastructure and pipeline development planning to support scientific needs across the team.
Continuous and frequent communication across company to understand the current ongoing science and challenges, plan both short term and long-term work, present and discuss current work and results, as well as brainstorm and contribute novel ideas for the advancement of the company
Experience with more than one of the following: Git, Jupyter Lab, Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Services (GCP, AWS, Azure), Airflow, Windows, and Linux.
Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, R, and Julia.
Understanding of database systems and query languages such as SQL
Familiarity with behavior driven development.
Enthusiasm and determination for troubleshooting complex technical issues.
Experience or understanding of solving common IT and hardware issues as well as internet routing, networking, and firewalls.
Ability to balance multiple long-term projects and short-term requests simultaneously.
Willingness to develop solutions to difficult objectives independently and consistently.
Must be highly motivated and can work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team.
