Data Engineer, Brampton, ON
We are looking for a Data Engineer, with experience in building data pipelines and providing accurate, easy-to-use, and timely data solutions to support analysis of Retail and Health data across Enterprise. You will be a key contributor to the development of our data platform that powers our Data Analytics and AI capabilities, reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Engineering, the incumbent will be responsible for providing guidance and technical leadership to junior data engineers. We are looking for smart, nice, and curious team members to help bring our Data & Analytics game to the next level. This is an exciting time to join our team – We are changing the game in a big way!
What You’ll Do:
- Lead architecture, design and development of end-to-end Cloud based solutions supporting data integration, data ingestion, data observability, and data fulfilment.
- Build a Data Platform and services using the latest Cloud technologies such as GCP
- Build real-time streaming and batch data pipelines, metadata services, and UI dashboards for data monitoring, controls, and prediction.
- Explore opportunities for optimization of existing data services and re-designing of data infrastructure for greater scalability and performance.
- Mentor and cross-train junior data engineers.
- Provide support to Data Governance initiatives such as data quality, data lineage, and metadata management, and perform root-cause analysis to answer specific business questions.
What You'll Bring:
- Hands on experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
- Solid experience in Software Engineering experience with a strong focus on data.
- Solid experience in OO programming experience using Java or Python.
- Experience with sophisticated SQL and large relational databases such as Teradata, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Experience with Linux environment and building CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to take initiative, being multi-task, self-starter, diligent are essential in this role
- Knowledge and experience in Cloud technologies such as GCP (Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Airflow), AWS or Azure is an asset.
