YOU AND YOUR TEAM

The Agriculture Research team provides market insight, analysis, and instantaneous visibility to our clients interested in the agriculture markets. We seek a Data Scientist to help manage and expand our market-leading world crop supply and demand forecasting pipelines. The candidate for this position will need to maintain and develop models that forecast production, flows and other key metrics for several commodity grains, oilseed and softs (e.g. sugar, coffee) crops. You will own the process end-to-end, from acquiring data from internal and external sources, through data cleaning, feature creation, modelling and reporting. The role will require close work with Agriculture Research analysts, as well as our Weather, Pricing and Shipping teams, and include frequent interactions with clients.

WHY IS THIS JOB IMPORTANT?

You will join an industry-leading team of agriculture and weather data scientists and analysts that provide data, forecasts and analysis of global crop production. Your main tasks will be to maintain and develop models that forecast crop production and flows, as well as develop novel products around our outstanding agricultural data. As a crucial component of our product development process, you will interact with our global user base that spans the agricultural supply chain, via client meetings, webinars and press reports, as well as with other teams at our company.

SOME OF THE DAILY TASKS:

  • Maintain and develop models to forecast supply and demand of different commodity crops,

  • Work closely with the team of analysts, weather, pricing and remote sensing experts,

  • Deliver our agricultural data content in innovative ways via our platform, reports and client meetings.

WHAT TO BRING?

  • 5+ years of academic and/or business experience with applied data science,

  • Sophisticated use of Python or R for data science,

  • Proficient/Advanced in English.

YOU WILL BE EVEN MORE COMPETITIVE IF:

  • You have experience modelling agricultural systems, or have experience in agricultural commodity markets,

  • You are MSc or PhD in an applied scientific subject (agricultural economics, agronomy, meteorology),

  • You speak in Spanish, Portuguese or Russian.
