Description of business unit

The Group Data & Analytics Office (GDAO) is a central team within the Group Technology and Customer Solutions division of Bank of Ireland. Our strategic goals are to: Accelerate Data Management, Simplify Data Architecture, Run Data Infrastructure, Drive Data Quality and Remediation Analytics. We are also on a mission to expedite the adoption of analytics to transform the bank, engage our customers and deliver value.

Purpose of the Role

Working with the Group Data Remediation Analytics Lead, you will provide technical solution delivery for remediation analytics projects; including identifying data quality defects for remediation. The successful candidate will also design, develop and deliver solutions using the newest technologies in data exploration, and visualisation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support CCDRR2 programme with data analytics demonstrating CIE and our customer data cube to identify product holdings by customer
  • Handle the ringfencing of passed customers and the regeneration of new cohorts in line with programme timelines.
  • To triage data issues prioritised (from problem definition to solution identification and proposal)
  • To support remediation's led by other remediation teams where data-related domain expertise is required
  • Build high quality data visualisations and self-serve data sources to provide insights for data remediation
  • To prioritise the outputs from the identification of data issues as a result of the data profiling and quality reports to understand where the issues are arising from
  • Use CIE (Customer Integration Engine) to understand our data gaps from a customer perspective and identify scope of remediation
  • Collaborate with colleagues from across the Bank to eliminate silos, to drive the use of EDW and to share standard methodology
  • Proactively analyse problems to improve processes, and propose solutions to business challenges

This job can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

Essential Qualifications

  • Third Level qualification, in mathematics, statistics, finance, IT, or another subject area including a significant numerical element

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Indutry experience in data analytics
  • Deep technical skills including working with large datasets, relational databases and experience with a combination of tools such as SQL, R, Tableau and Python
  • The ability to challenge the status quo and support reengineering of process and use of data for business benefit
  • Good communication, and presentation skills to work effectively with wider CDAO, and other divisions
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Strong interpretative and analytical skills, with the confidence to provide a professional, objective and independent viewpoint
  • Experience of delivery to exciting targets with a demonstrable ability to handle contending deadlines
  • High energy, bias for action, work towards results, strong resilience and focus on execution excellence

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience with an agile environment, value prioritisation and design thinking
  • Experience with Teradata, Tableau and Cloudera platforms
  • Analytics Institute Data Analyst certification or equivalent
  • Understanding of process flow, data management, GDPR and data lineage concepts
