Neara

Data Scientist

Job description

Neara is a high-growth, venture-backed Series B, tech company headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Recognised as one of the Times 100 Most Influential Companies of 2024, our vision is to change how the world operates, builds, and designs critical infrastructure. We work with 75% of the utilities in Australia and New Zealand and are rapidly expanding across the US and Europe. Our mission is to revolutionise the utilities industry with our 3D digital network model, enabling utilities to future-proof their infrastructure and navigate the clean energy transition.

As a Data Scientist at Neara you'll work closely with our multi-functional digitisation team which spans across customer success, engineering, AI and product to create a data driven approach to decision making and process improvements. You will also work closely with clients who wish to leverage the Neara platform to be more data driven in how they use the platform via risk calculations and use your understanding of their problems to help drive the capabilities of the platform for these use cases.

You will be essential to scaling our digitisation efforts by providing data derived timelines, identifying bottlenecks and instrumenting data collection across each stage of a complex pipeline to attribute upstream improvements to downstream business metrics.

You will be a key storyteller that guides the focus of the digitisation group by generating metrics and creating dashboards that communicate and summarise complex information on the process.

This multifaceted role requires expertise in data management, analysis, and strong communication to drive Neara's data-driven initiatives across various departments.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated 3+ years of experience in data and analytics, computer science, statistical analysis, or data visualisation.
  • Strong technical competence, including data analytical, statistical and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with creating dashboards that distils multiple sources of information into a digestible overview.
  • Foundational coding skill (Python, SQL) with an interest in working in an engineering driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to work asynchronously with a globally distributed team.
  • Ability to take business problems and to identify the data required and the methods to analyse said data.
  • Experience with spatial and geospatial data is highly regarded.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a passion for data and analytics.

What You Will Do

  • Own the end-to-end workflow for insights into the digitisation workflow: creation, collection, organisation, processing, and communication.
  • Implement application trackers to monitor key metrics and performance, assisting with customer success tracking and insights.
  • Transform complex data into intuitive, visually compelling, and actionable dashboards or insights that assist with strategic decision making.
  • Facilitate A/B tests of new features and functionalities.
  • Leveraging data-driven insights across multiple projects across the globe to guide decision-making processes.
  • Identify process improvements to scale operations, digitisation and use-case implementation.
  • Serve as a data consultant to clients, providing guidance on data-intensive and statistically complex use cases within the platform

What We Offer

  • Meaningful ESOP
  • Fully Flexible Work Environment. We have a fully stocked office (and impressive snack collection) in Redfern.
  • Regular office events
  • The real benefit is working on a genuinely complex, innovative and industry leading product making a genuine difference in the world around us
