The role
The Institutional Partnerships team at Frontiers works closely with research institutions, libraries, consortia, and funders to enhance the support provided to researchers when publishing open access. We are seeking a Senior Institutional Data Analyst to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of Institutional Market Strategy and Innovation. This senior role is critical in expanding Frontiers’ Institutional Partnerships Program by leading strategic data analysis initiatives, ensuring accurate and comprehensive datasets and resources to facilitate such datasets for our Institutional Partnerships Sales and Account Development teams, and driving institutional business and market intelligence that inform key strategic decisions.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of Frontiers' institutional partnerships by leveraging your expertise in data analysis and market intelligence to drive strategic initiatives and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of advanced quantitative analyses of market and institutional data, deriving actionable insights that support the strategic objectives of the Institutional Partnerships team.
- Collaborate with Data and Product teams to ensure accurate and complete institutional and consortium datasets, including the development of comprehensive documentation and the provision of training as required.
- Drive market and competitive intelligence initiatives, delivering clear, insightful reports that inform decision-making across the Institutional Partnerships team.
- Oversee the creation of bespoke datasets and insights tailored to specific countries, funders, and institutions.
- Conduct thorough market research, including institutional needs assessments, gap analyses, and feasibility studies, to evaluate new business growth opportunities and models.
- Collaborate with other analysts in the team and the Data & Analytics department on complex projects, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality analysis and resources such as self-serve dashboards.
- Develop and maintain institutional market intelligence dashboards for use by internal stakeholders, with potential integration into broader systems.
- Provide leadership in the evaluation and integration of third-party data resources such as Dimensions, Scopus, Web of Science, Open APC, and ESAC Registry, creating guidelines and best practices for their use.
- Support the Head of Institutional Market Strategy and Innovation in strategic initiatives by providing detailed analysis and recommendations that drive market development and partnership growth.
- Communicate complex analyses clearly and effectively to a diverse audience, including senior management, ensuring that data-driven insights are accessible and actionable.
Requirements
- Solid experience in market and competitive intelligence.
- Good understanding of the scholarly publishing industry, its trends, and drivers, is a plus.
- Proven track record in managing and executing data gathering, analysis, and reporting projects with a strategic focus.
- Advanced skills in data management, visualization, and report writing, with expertise in Excel, Tableau and Power BI, Python or SQL (or similar tools).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, providing leadership in data-related projects and ensuring the successful delivery of complex initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels.
- Degree in a relevant field will be considered a plus.
