Seeking a dynamic, goal-oriented Healthcare Policy and Data Analyst to work on health and human services projects requiring intermediate SAS, R, Python, SQL, or STATA experience as well as knowledge of statistics and research methodology.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within United States as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand the use of quantitative data to address research questions in accordance with project needs
  • Work effectively and cooperatively as a member of a project teams
  • Prepare data and information for internal as well as external use, contribute to reports, and assist with project coordination tasks
  • Interact with clients and develop strategic working relationships
  • Maintain a consistently high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
  • Write detailed specifications and documentation of data processing and analytical steps
  • Support predictive modeling and data visualization tasks
  • Write effective and efficient code both independently and under the guidance of project managers using best practices standards
    • Create and manipulate databases
    • Leverage use of advanced features of statistical software to develop automated processes for regularly run programs
    • Implement quality control (QC) procedures to validate input data sources and generated output

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field
  • Academic coursework in intermediate statistics; some coursework in research methodology preferred
  • 3+ years of experience using SAS (including macro processing and Proc SQL), R, Python, SQL, or STATA in a research, consulting, or business environment to perform the following tasks:
    • Manipulating data and/or creating datasets
    • Performing quantitative analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, multivariate regressions, predictive modeling)
    • Creating automatic reports
  • Experience working with healthcare claims and enrollment data and familiarity with healthcare data / payment concepts such as:
    • Claims data structure and contents (e.g., claim-level vs. claim line level, revenue center codes, procedure codes, diagnosis-related groups)
    • Claims processing concepts (e.g., final action, maturity)
    • Inpatient vs. outpatient service settings
    • Payment concepts such as allowed amount vs. paid amount, deductible / coinsurance
  • Experience in preparing data and information and contributing to reports and presentations
  • Curiosity, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a focus on meeting deadlines
  • Experience interacting with clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAS certification
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Public Policy or related field
  • Experience conducing statistical research to inform health policy
  • Experience with databases having complex structures and relationships
  • Experience managing and analyzing large datasets using SAS grid and/or other parallel processing techniques
  • Experience with other software such as Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VBA)

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600.
