Technical Data Analyst - AWS

Job description

Our education client is undertaking a Smart Campus program to develop the capability to integrate with Internet of Things (IoT) devices to collect and centrally store data for analytics and insights. The initiative is into its third year with a focus on building out Use Cases and onboarding additional datasets using the foundational Smart Campus platform (utilising AWS, LoRaWAN, Dell Boomi). The purpose of this position is to join the existing team as an analyst. The team a working in a predominantly agile mode.

Core Accountabilities:
Develop and maintain strong links with business owners and other stakeholders
Identify and develop initiatives collaboratively with other University stakeholders to deliver these as part of the Smart Campus platform
Understand, record and translate the business needs into product roadmap, feature briefs and prioritised backlogs working with the Smart Campus Team
Provide support and analysis across a range of domains in the Smart Campus platform, contributing to platform support and planning as required
Complete some data analysis, data mapping and testing activities in support of the Smart Campus Team

Required Experience/Skills:
Experience in business requirements analysis and specification in a large and complex organisation with a proven ability to deliver complex user specifications and/or detailed business requirements
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, persuade, negotiate and develop strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across the University
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; with the ability to translate and provide clarity between business and technology teams
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to source, clean, prepare, data analysis and transformation
Experience in data analysis and visualisation using Excel
Ability to extract actionable insights from data and develop prototype visualisations & dashboards
Exposure to SQL / No SQL databases

Desirable Skills:
Experience with AWS Database and Storage Services (e.g. AWS S3)
Experience with SQL and ability to write moderate to advanced SQL queries
Proven ability to form deliverable and practical solutions, guiding developers
Experience in an Agile/Scrum delivery
