Be a key driver on BASF’s path to digitalisation by supporting existing products and initiatives as well as innovate additional digital solutions that supports BASF’s global businesses.

Within the unit “Data Enablement Platform – Data Management & Architecture” we work in the area of data management (e.g. data modelling, (meta)data integration, data quality, data privacy and security, data lifecycle management, support data stewardship and data governance…) and provide architecture, concepts, consulting, implementation, and operations around these topics. Starting with activities around providing transparency about BASF’s data landscape through the BASF Data Catalog you will deep dive into BASF’s data world.

Your main responsibilities:
  • You will work together with the Data Stewardship organization when it comes to making meta data available in the BASF Data Catalog and scope requirements with regards to data transparency together with these stakeholders
  • You will develop concepts and architecture as well as work on very concrete topics like metadata integration, workflows as well as introduce new features for the BASF Data Catalog
  • You will develop as well as operate these concepts and architecture together with multi-cultural, international and interdisciplinary DevOps teams
  • Your first focus will be hands on in metadata ingestion into the BASF Data Catalog and will in the future extend to other data management areas
  • You will contribute to developing innovative solutions in the data management area

Our main requirements:
  • A Bachelor or Master degree in relevant IT studies with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Business and Technical Consulting skills in combination with communication and marketing to translate the technical into a business language and visa versa
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to foster a positive and energized culture
  • A growth mindset with a curiosity to learn and improve.
  • Working in a team and being in contact with internal or external colleagues is exciting to you and therefore you bring strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • You can demonstrate fluent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • At least 2 years of experience in the area of data management
    • Technologies around data management
    • Business Focus on data stewardship and data governance organizations and concepts
  • You have experience with integration and ETL tools (e.g. Azure Data Factory, SAP, MuleSoft, Kafka), usage of APIs as well as scheduling and automation of operations activities (e.g. testing, ingestion,..) in combination with authentication methods (e.g. SAML, OAuth,…)
  • Experience in OnPremis and / or in Cloud Big data technologies and architectures within Microsoft Azure probably also in AWS, Google Cloud or Alicloud)

Nice to have:
  • Experience in Tools like MS PowerBI and / or tableau
  • Experience working in agile (Scrum knowledge appreciated) with a DevOps mindset
