About This Opportunity
The Auslan Communication Technologies Pipeline project is working to develop new AI technologies for Auslan-based computer interfaces, and through this, support the development of gesture-based human-machine interaction, sign language and gesture recognition technologies
As the Data Scientist within the program you will assist in undertaking research in Auslan recognition, production and processing. Your will be involved in the collection, curation and coding of Auslan video data and assisting with the development of machine learning models for Auslan and sign component recognition, including the training of staff and students.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to the processes that enables the team to manage research activities and co-author research papers ad will be required to foster relations with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.

Our Ideal Candidate
You should possess qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate degree in machine learning or related field and demonstrated expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
You will require excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective relationships with diverse project stakeholders and with the broader project team.
Although not essential, experience in Familiarity with Auslan and the Australian Deaf Community is beneficial for this project.

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time fixed term position at Hew level 7. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,763 - $96,783 plus super of up to 17%.The total package will be in the range $103,852 - $113,236
