We're on the search for a Lead Data Analyst to join our ranks! As a lead on this team, this role will take point on data-driven projects targeted at eCommerce fraud detection and mitigation. If selected, you will be responsible for guiding FiveBy and client-side colleagues through existing and emerging fraud scenarios and making recommendations for immediate action and strategic programmatic changes. In your daily work, you will partner with fellow analysts to identify and query valuable data sets and conduct accurate, in-depth investigations into fraudulent activity and suspected threat actors. The ideal candidate for this role will be skilled in data analytics with an extensive background in eCommerce fraud.

Due to current circumstances surrounding Covid-19, this position is currently remote with the possibility of working from our Seattle headquarters or Bay Area operations in the future.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Use available data to identify and plan appropriate actions in varying and evolving business cases
  • Provide guidance to team members on general fraud concepts and methods, particularly in e-commerce and account-based systems
  • Query data from complex and/or disparate data sets using SQL or similar querying language
  • Identify active and impending threats and outline prevention, remediation, and mitigation recommendations
  • Assist in the creation of proactive and/or automated fraud prevention/response efforts
  • Create written reports/adverse action documentation
  • Communicate complex scenarios to a variety of audiences

Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher, or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of professional experience in data analytics or business intelligence
  • 3+ years of professional experience in online/digital fraud or piracy, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience leading projects or teams
  • 2+ years of experience in consulting
  • Expert SQL skills
  • Knowledge of Python

Work environment and physical demands

In order to perform this role, the selected employee must be able to operate within a standard office environment, with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes the ability to withstand long periods of staring at a computer screen, exposure to fluorescent lights, and repetitive motion associated with writing and/or continuous computer use. This role requires the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, communicate with others via speech or text, and use hands or other tools to operate a computer and keyboard. Light to moderate lifting may be required. Due to the nature of our work, employees must be able to uphold the stress of traveling to client sites as well as adapt (within reason) to the conditions of client sites. Regular, predictable attendance is required, as is the ability to work outside of standard business hours as business needs dictate.
