Senior Data Scientist (12 month Maternity Cover)

To deliver on this ambition of a Powered by Data strategy we need talent with expertise and experience of data science and advanced analytics to deliver multiple initiatives and help lead the change in data and pet- and pet-centric thinking across the entire Mars Petcare business.

The purpose of this role is to join and be an integral part of the Ecosystem/Cross-Division function, planning, and leading projects to deliver the Powered By Data project across Mars Petcare divisions using the ecosystem of data available.

We need an individual who can apply their knowledge and experience of data science / ML techniques to our unique data sets and lead data science projects.

The role involves hands-on delivery of analytics and insight as well as leading and mentoring others.

What are we looking for?

• An independent, self-starter to both manage and lead a Platform Data Science/ML Ops team of 4 people
• Demonstrable experience of using data science and advanced analytics to generate business value and change
• Experience and knowledge using Python (NumPy, pandas, etc.) is required; Familiarity with PySpark is also desirable
• Must have excellent communication skills, and interact effectively with all levels of internal / external business stakeholders to engage and Influence
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Master's degree or equivalent experience in the fields of Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other numerate discipline
  

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Creating data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets
• Analysis may be applied to various areas of the business (e.g., Market Economics, Supply Chain, Marketing/Advertising, Scientific Research, etc.)
• Researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions
