About Team:
New Business and Emerging Tech: This is the team which builds reusable technologies that aid in acquiring customers, onboarding and empowering merchants besides ensuring a seamless experience for both these stakeholders. They also optimize tariffs and assortment, adhering to the Walmart philosophy - Everyday Low Cost. In addition to ushering in affordability, they also create personalized experiences for customers the omnichannel way, across all channels - in-store, on the mobile app and websites.
Our team is responsible for design, development, and operations of large-scale consumer facing applications. We focus on real-time transactions, user experience flows, streaming analytics across web and native apps. We interact with multiple teams across the company to provide scalable robust technical solutions.
Job Summary
As a Data Engineer, you’ll be responsible for adding new product features, support existing implementations and work with product, engineering, and business partners on new innovations.
What you'll do:
- As a data scientist you'll understand the business problem and develop ETL based solution
- Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech
- Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.
- Excellent proficiency in data science technologies Excellent proficiency in data engineering technologies (ETL, yarn, spark, kafka, hive, GCP, Python / R / Scala, Linux / Unix / Shell environments, query optimisation, data proc )
- Software development by providing engineering patterns to deliver the optimal product; including communicating design patterns.
- Partner with product owners and business SMEs to analyse the business need and provide a supportable and sustainable engineered solution. Ensure that the overall technical solution is aligned with the business needs.
- Drive the creation and modifications of the product portfolio components, identify and engage all technical resources necessary to contribute to the solution ensure the solution is consistent with Walmart architecture, design, and development standards.
- Experiment: This is a startup-like environment so everything can change as we experiment with doing more custom partnership work
- Develop applications using industry best practices. Make adjustments to adopt new methodologies that provide the business with increased flexibility and agility.
- Stay current with the latest development tools, technology ideas, patterns and methodologies; share knowledge by clearly articulating results and ideas to key stakeholders.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in software development and data sciences technologies.
- 7+ years of Strong experience in React & Redux, Next.js, NodeJs Frameworks (Express / Hapi), Angular, Vue
- 7+ years of experience in systems design, architecture and data structures
- Experience with traditional as well as modern statistical techniques, including Regression, Classification, Ensemble Methods.
- Strong hands on experience in tools like spark, kafka, GCP.
- Strong implementation experience with high-level languages, such as Python, R, Scala or similar scripting language, and familiarity with Linux/Unix/Shell environments
- Strong hands-on skills in sourcing, cleaning, manipulating and analysing large volumes of data using distributed computing platform
- Hands on experience in Python / R / Scala, Linux / Unix / Shell environments, query optimisation, data proc, ETL
- In depth working knowledge of tools like yarn, spark, kafka, hive
- Must have working knowledge of cloud computing (Azure / GCP)
- Experience with end-to-end modelling projects emerging from research efforts
- Excellent academic or industrial track record of proposing, conducting and reporting results of original research, plus collaborative research with publications
