The Academic Data Analyst partners closely with the research team to create data sets, collect, normalize, and analyze state testing data and provide subject matter expertise on academic data. This role applies data knowledge to generate innovative solutions and consistently delivers results based on business objectives.

- Create data sets for research teams;
- Act as a subject matter expert for academic data for the research team;
- Collect, normalize, and prepare student level testing data for ingestion;
- Work with the accountability specialist to provide relevant state testing and accountability analysis;
- Analyze data and provide ad-hoc reports with insights to address business challenges;
- Define, develop and implement best practices for data cleansing, validation and general quality control;
- Articulate results to team members to increase the value added to the business;
- Communicate information to stakeholders about data analysis, both regularly and on an as-needed basis;
- Work with projects and data sets such as state testing, graduation, and accountability data;
- Use appropriate techniques, design, modeling and optimization to provide answers to complex questions and problems;
- Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources;
- Utilize interviewing skills to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, and verify the business needs of the project stakeholders;
- Remain current on data, visualization and analytics trends, topics and technologies and applies new knowledge to provide advanced solutions and shares developments with the team;
- Collaborate with other internal data and research teams.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) years of data analysis experience
Certificates and Licenses: None required.
Desired Qualifications
- Subject matter expertise in Phonics and Phonemic Awareness
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong SQL skills
- Demonstrated experience communicating with various stakeholders including teachers and school leaders
- Self-motivated to solve emergent issues with the best available tools and is expected to work collaboratively with other team members and the broader team of data analysts across the company
- MS365 proficient
- Experience with data analysis, modeling, design and documentation
- Experience working in MS Power BI, Excel, Snowflake, DBT and Alation.
- Ability to communicate technology concepts effectively with technically proficient and non-technically proficient individuals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Effective customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience in developing reports and/or dashboards
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Ability to clear required background check
dESIRED Qualifications:
- Experience working in education with academic data sets
- Knowledge of state accountability and standardized testing
- Experience developing dashboards in business intelligence tools such as PowerBI

- This is a home-based position. This position is open to residents of, and may be performed remotely from Washington, D.C.
Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
- We anticipate the salary range to be $47,926.88 to $104,803.50. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
