We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Strategy and Innovation team. The role undertakes complex data analytics, interpreting the result of the analysis to provide advice and insights, inform policy and identifies trend, patterns and insights within data sets.
The Data Scientist will be responsible for delivering data and analytics projects, working closely with programmers and data analysts to deliver quality analytics and insights.

Ideally you will have experience from within infrastructure, education or a planning background, with the ability to communicate data insights and apply them in planning context.
You are a team player who enjoys working in what is a collaborative, dynamic and agile team environment. You are a hands-on person who will proactively share your professional expertise and views to improve the team’s outputs. You lead by example and will proactively share your knowledge to upskill your analyst peers.

About our team
The Planning, Industry and Environment Cluster was formed in 2019. The Cluster drives greater levels of integration and efficiency across key areas such as long-term planning, precincts, housing, property, infrastructure priorities, open space, the environment, our natural resources – land, water, mining – energy, and growing our industries. There is a strong emphasis on regional NSW.
The Strategy and Innovation Group (S&I) is a new group in DPIE and has the mandate to develop the long-term direction of the department’s work and the road map for achieving its goals over the coming decades.
