TITLE: Senior Data Scientist
REPORTS TO: Department Manager
STATUS: Salaried
LOCATION: Upper Arlington, OH & Remote
SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

JOB SUMMARY: The Data Scientist role requires the individual to define business challenges, design analysis to address these challenges, execute the analysis, read the results of the analysis and present findings to managers.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Understand the source, content and definition of data residing in database tables and various data structures
  • Identify trends in the information
  • Analyze the impact of specific product / service offerings
  • Write programs for data extraction and cleansing
  • Extract data using SQL
  • Organize and analyze data using Excel, Python or R
  • Perform analysis using statistical methods
  • Recommend and design on-going reporting as necessary
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical employees to design and deliver strategic analysis
  • Adhere to and be compliant, as applicable, with GLBA, FCPA, CAN-SPAM, DPPA, RESPA, UDAAP, as well as all other federal, state and local laws, and company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or Mathematics
  • Master's degree is a plus
  • 2+ years prior business experience programming using Open Source technologies such as R and Python
  • 2 years of work experience in a related industry
  • Ability to write SQL (Data Manipulation Language)
  • Experience using Perl a plus
  • Understanding of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases a plus
  • Experience with data warehouses, Oracle Data Miner or similar BI tools a plus
  • Experience creating and/or interpreting predictive models a plus
  • Experience using Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Flume, or Pig) a plus
  • Excellent, self-motivated work ethic
  • High energy with a passion for analyzing complex data sets
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively relay technical and analytical information to the business
  • Desire to work for a growing company in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment
  • Stable broadband/high-speed internet connection for teletraining and online learning
  • Mobile hotspot not accepted
  • Experience with teleconferencing
  • Access to a quiet workspace
  • Broadband Internet that uses DSL, fiber optics, or cable. Avoid over-the-air or fixed
broadband, which delivers internet over airwaves.
  • Minimum standards for internet speed, latency, and WiFi include:
Download Speeds 100 mbps or more
Upload Speeds 10 mbps or more
Ping Latency (time for data to travel) 50 ms or less
WiFi Signal 60-70 dBm
WiFi Protocol 802.11ac or 802.11ax

  • Use a router or modem capable of hosting multiple devices. This is especially true if others at home are downloading or streaming, too.
Visit and follow the prompts to run a speed test.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear and may be required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel or crouch. This position requires the ability to read typewritten text on a computer screen. Employee is required to work at a desktop computer and/or laptop and utilize a desk telephone and may be required to travel throughout the USA by automobile or airplane which may require overnight lodging.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sit in an office setting and may be exposed to quiet to moderate noise level.
