This is a hybrid role where one will mainly be working remotely but there will be a day or two each quarter where you will be meeting with leadership at our offices in Detroit, MI.


Job Summary


As an Associate Data Analyst, you'll build your skills and assist with collecting, analyzing and reporting data to recommend data-driven solutions to stakeholders, including business leaders. In this role, you'll focus on standard reporting and analysis techniques while learning more sophisticated analyses and tools.


Responsibilities


  • Develop, implement, and maintain leading-edge analytic systems, taking complicated problems and building simple frameworks
  • Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex data sets
  • Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, developing and maintaining protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data
  • Work closely with Chief Performance Officer to understand and maintain focus on their analytical needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
  • Proactively streamline and automate workflows to speed up processing.
  • Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis integrating various reporting components from multiple data sources
  • Clean up processes and data.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Experience building basic data visualizations such as charts, graphs, and tables
  • Experience using data to tell stories tailored to the audience
  • Proficiency creating professional documents and presentations
  • Working knowledge of descriptive statistical analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of SQL or other querying languages for creating data sets
  • Fast paced individual who is able self-learn.
  • Not afraid to dig deep into paperwork and data to find a solution.
  • Proven analytic skills, including data mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization
  • Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations
  • Strong Excel/R skills with the ability to learn other analytic tools
  • Multitasking, ability to self-learn and dig deep into data and institutional knowledge


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a scientific discipline, mathematics, applied statistics, information technology or a related field
  • 2 years of experience or equivalent competency using Microsoft Excel & R for data analysis
  • 1 year of experience or equivalent competency using queries to create and analyze data sets in a business setting Conceptual knowledge of software programming fundamentals
  • Strong programming experience with Python and R
  • Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
