Job description

We are currently searching for a Data Analyst to join our team. The Data Analyst is responsible for the development and maintenance of reports and system automations. Searches for methods to enhance and improve the data environment and works with others to define reporting, data analysis and automation needs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist employees in understanding and utilizing tools to improve productivity, efficiency, and member service. Assist staff with troubleshooting technical issues, conducting queries and retrieving data from various systems.
  • Facilitate new core products/services through setup, installation, testing and training.
  • Assess adequacy of existing data for reporting requests. Assess data quality and work with the appropriate manager to remove incorrect data.
  • Meets with organizational representatives to analyze reporting and data needs. Utilizes available resources and tools to generate accurate and timely reports.
  • Develops reports for staff, regulatory agencies, audit firms and compliance assurance; on both a recurring and as-need bases. Maintains existing reports.

  • Assimilate, aggregate and query financial data to provide recommendations based on statistical analysis.
  • Develop solutions to automate and replace manual processes utilizing customizations to complex data analysis and automation tools.
  • Using operational knowledge of complex credit union financial systems, facilitates effective reporting and data manipulation process solutions for all departments.
  • Identify and create methods to increase department efficiency and accuracy through effective data analysis.
  • Create complex reports that enhances visibility to trends, abnormalities and potential complications in the credit union data.
  • Provides in depth operational assistance to management and other credit union staff in areas involving the manipulation of complex data.
  • Interface with vendors to source customized programming solutions for data related projects.
  • Provide and/or facilitate training for involved users involving data analysis applications and customizations.
  • Documents instructions and procedures for using analytics tools.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the core system, Episys, necessary to building reliable reports and assisting team members with member questions.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in the credit union or banking industry with a proficient understanding of core financial systems, preferably Jack Henry Symitar.
  • Two to Five years of experience with Jack Henry PowerOn and ARCU preferred.
  • One to three years of experience with MS SQL and MS SQL Reporting Services strongly preferred.
  • Experience with data integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Informatica, etc. desired.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
