Job description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in coding (e.g., C/C++, Python, Java), databases and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript), statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS), or hypothesis testing.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience using hypothesis based statistical approach for problem solving.
  • Experience with fraud risk management, risk intelligence and investigations, online advertising, or e-commerce.
  • Experience articulating business needs of the stakeholders and facilitate collaboration.
  • Ability to translate and communicate insights from data to clear actionable recommendation.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analysis on data sets to determine trends and develop business insights in order to protect Google's users.
  • Leverage clustering, segmentation, regression modeling and other statistical analyzing to detect patterns and abuse signals in data.
  • Utilize machine learning to scale, optimize and automate our abuse fighting efforts, and translate business needs into data modeling initiatives, and work with engineers to put predictive models into production.
  • Assist with designing and building infrastructure to facilitate analysis and experimentation for e.g. building dashboards, writing co-labs for sampling data, and preliminary data analysis.
  • Conduct open ended investigations into sophisticated forms of abuse, take action on fraudsters, and close attack vectors.
