Data Engineer

About The Role

As a Data Engineer at AppHarvest, you will be an integral part of the information technology (I.T.) team assisting in the architecture and building of data structures, data modeling, and reporting. This role will report to the Director, IT Applications, and based in Lexington, KY.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and build out Data Pipelines from various systems that manage greenhouse and packaging systems
• Build out reporting in PowerBI to cater to the business needs
• Establish and maintain ETL process
• Work within Azure Data Factory and or Synapsis
• Establish and maintain Azure IOT hub
• Process various data sources from API to data files to drive business insight into operations performance
• Model data retention policies for currently used and historical data
• Cultivate data strategy to ensure SOX compliance and best practices are preserved
• Identify trends in data flows and create recommendations for optimization
• Assist with other cross-collaborative projects as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering and/or related field; Advanced degree a plus
• Expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure IOT, and Power BI
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in data engineering and/or data analysis
• Expertise in building and maintaining complex data models
• Expertise in build out of data pipelines from multiple data sources
• Excellent communication skills – able to speak open and honestly to all levels organizationally
• Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Collaborative and innovative spirit
