At Sanofi w e are bringing together Data Scientists to propel Sanofi in to its digital transformation by deploying Artificial Intelligence throughout its business. Data Science is being driven from an inspiring Digital organization with a core mission of data & analytics to drive business insights, to engage with customers and employees , to automate business processes, and to maximize patient impact.

A Data Science Lead will develop of AI/ML models & products applied to a broad range of business use cases related to commercial and customer analytics. This responsibility includes working closely with data business leaders , data scientist colleagues and ML Engineers to develop and deploy the most appropriate data science applications. The incumbent will have an opportunity to work within and between domains ( e.g . commercial, customer experience, consumer data, operational, medical and corporate functions data).

Data Science Lead Responsibilities:

  • Lead data science area deliverables for digital products/programs/initiatives including the a llocation of work within the team, monitors the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team , and reports results .

  • Provide thought and directional leadership in a domain or AI specialty, and have the capacity to mentor junior personnel in these areas.

  • Use domain understanding of individual-level data (1st party, CRM, …) and/or marketing data sources, including data regarding media (e. g. IQVIA, IRI, Kantar, Nielsen) and digital audience (e. g., DMPs), ad-serving (e.g., Google DCM, Atlas), and digital clickstream (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe) to attribute sales and operations impact .

  • Apply i n-depth experience with both statistical and modern data science approaches & AI architectures relevant for commercial busines s needs such as Next-Best-Action, optimization of operations / resources, forecasting, MM/ MMIX ( e.g. LSTM, RNN , bayesian ) .

  • Build models, algorithms, simulations and experiments by writing highly optimized , deployable code and using state-of-the art machine learning technologies .

  • Work on full spectrum of activities from conducting experiments to delivering production - ready models .

  • Work with d evelopers, e ngineers, and ML Ops to deliver AI/ML solutions for new products / services .

Essential experience:

  • Degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, economics, computational sciences or a related quantitative discipline and 5 + years of analytical experience in an industrial or commercial setting OR PhD degree with at least 3 + years of industry experience.

  • Experience AI/ML modeling of complex datasets , and preferable to have experience in advanced statistical modeling, or broader aspects of mathematics such as optimization, Bayesian modeling relevant for financial, commerce or related business cases.

  • Experience developing deployable code and deploying models in product-focused development agile environment.

  • Direct experience with commercial and customer data types, preferably from pharma related sources e.g. e. g. IQVIA, IRI, Kantar, Nielsen) and digital audience (e. g., DMPs), ad-serving (e.g., Google DCM, Atlas), and digital clickstream (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe).

  • Experience with commercial and /or campaign KPIs, reporting and tracking, and implementation of related analytical practices ( e.g. A/B testing) .

  • Advanced software development skills in at least two of the standard data science languages (such as Python , R, Scala, C++, Julia ) , and familiarity & flexibility with data base systems ( e.g. SQL, NoSQL, graph technologies )

  • Comfortable working in cloud and high-performance comput ational environments ( e.g. AWS, GCP, Apache Spark , Databricks )

  • Disciplined AI/ML development (CI/ C D , Orchestration )

  • Experience in coordination of digital product delivery team s in an agile manner and provid ing feedback to their management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, business analysis, and consultancy skills

Desirable experience:

  • Coordination of the delivery of AI/ML digital products for commercial business use cases (finance, sales, operations) in an agile manner .

  • A t rack record of publishing relevant predictive modeling results and tools in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and other scientific proceedings.

  • Experience in life sciences and healthcare .

  • Experience in a complex global organization .

This role will be situated and aligned with the Sanofi Data Science Lead function and role.
