About Us

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) was formed in 2019 with the merger of two former departments Family and Community Services (FACS) and Justice.

By combining FACS and Justice, the two former agencies are now able to work together as DCJ to support everyone’s right to access justice, to help families, and to promote early intervention and inclusion, in order to provide benefits for the whole community.

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) is a Division of the Department of Communities and Justice. CSNSW contributes to achieving the two major Government goals of preventing and reducing the level of re-offending, and improving community confidence in the justice system.

Corrective Services Industries (CSI) and Education provide offender education, training and employment programs to maximise outcomes in accordance with departmental policy, procedures and standards.

About the role

The Corrections Intelligence Group (CIG) provides high level intelligence support to Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) stakeholders and various law enforcement agencies. Intelligence products disseminated by the CIG assist with decision making processes around the management of offenders in custody and under community corrections supervision. The Data Analyst manages and develops statistical data series pertaining to key operational areas of intelligence to support correctional and communication operations, performance and outcomes.

About You

The successful applicant will have relevant tertiary qualification in the field and experience with extraction, management, manipulation and reporting of statistical data using software such as SQL, SPSS, SAS, Excel and MS Access. You will have experience in leading a team in writing code, maintaining data dictionaries and developing dashboards to support reporting and strategic outcomes. You will possess strong interpersonal skills with sound analytical, report writing and communication skills.

Note – Applicants are also advised that due to the nature of the work that the CIG undertakes, employees may be exposed to violent, graphic and sexually explicit material as part of their duties.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience with extraction, management, manipulation and reporting of statistical data using software such as SQL, SPSS, SAS, Excel and MS Access.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
  • To meet satisfactory probity and National Security Information Clearances, the successful applicant will be required to be an Australian Citizen and obtain National Security Clearance to ‘Secret’ level within 6 months of ongoing employment
  • Current Drivers Licence with ability and willingness to drive throughout NSW
