Principal Data Engineer

Job description

Does this sound like you?

The principal role is an additional part-time responsibility next to your regular work as a consultant. As a Principal Data Engineer, you will work closely with the other Principal Consultants to lead the Data Engineer cell and be a people manager engaged with promoting the happiness, growth, and development of our data engineer colleagues.

How you will help to create value with Data & AI

At Xebia we build strong Data & AI practices to deliver value to our clients and their customers. In the past, our team of data professionals has predicted the daily demand for millions of loaves of bread, built advanced energy-saving algorithms on a nationwide scale and set up data innovation labs at large multinational corporations. We enjoy great success in making top companies AI-driven — just think of what more we can achieve when YOU join our team!

As a Principal Data Engineer Consultant, you are responsible for implementing the foundations of data-intensive systems. You develop enabling infrastructure to store, transform, and process data at scale and in the cloud. You ensure that data is stored safely and securely using the technology you see fit for the job. As well as coaching fellow data engineers, organizing events (like Meetups), and promoting the DE cell – inside and outside of Xebia Data.

What you will do to make data-intensive applications work effectively and securely?

With your knowledge of software engineering, cloud, clusters, queues, containers, streaming, or graphs, you work on the backbone of the data infrastructure. There is lots of data to store, many jobs to run and schedule, and many configurations to deal with. You work with the client in teams that are a mix of people from Xebia Data and the client and pick up the work that is related to the backbone on which the team is building.

When you’re working on-site with a client, you may come across something that is really difficult to solve. We’ve got your back as we at Xebia Data work as a team and will help you solve your problems because everybody at Xebia Data is just a quick message away and ready to help at any time.

Who Are We Looking For?

The Data Engineer role is a senior position with a central role in our clients' teams, and therefore we require at least 2 years of relevant professional experience. Having said that, we like to be amazed: so if you have done something outstanding during your studies, like contributing to open source projects or starting your own company, we encourage you to apply no matter what the level of your experience is.

The Xebia Way

At Xebia we treat each other with respect, cooperation, and a view towards creating an enthusiastic, self-empowered, dynamic working community. Our culture exudes creativity and ambition, and our colleagues share an insatiable thirst for knowledge. We’re especially proud of our generous training budget and our “Hack-What-You-Want” Fridays.

In addition to a great culture, we provide competitive primary benefits:

  • competitive salary;
  • lease car;
  • pension plan;
  • 5k educational budget. And please, do spend every bit of it.
  • extended insurance;
  • pick whatever laptop or MacBook you like
  • choose your phone;

Our core values are people first, quality without compromise, sharing knowledge, and customer intimacy. At GoDataDriven, you’ll find like-minded colleagues at the forefront of their fields with the courage to veer from the beaten path; they are the people who put organizations into motion

This is your dream job if…

  • If you like being the go-to person and aligning with our enablement services: recruitment, marketing, sales, delivery, finance, and academy.
  • If you like ensuring your colleagues' happiness, growth, and development.
  • If you like working for different clients and enjoy the excitement of regularly getting to learn new environments and know new people.

This is not your dream job if...

  • If you do not like working under pressure to get things done in the best way possible with limited time, you have to finish it.
  • If you do not like working with open-source technology.
  • If you do not like having non-technical conversations such as quarterly and end-of-year meetings to discuss topics like overall personal development, and set goals for accomplishments and performance.

Please let the company know that you found this position on this Job Board as a way to support us, so we can keep posting cool jobs.
