What you need to know about the role Application of data science and analytics to enhance the seller risk management of large enterprises who use PayPal and Braintree to process digital payments Meet our team The team is responsible for managing seller risk for the large enterprise portfolio generating 700B in annual processing and 100M in seller losses. The role of the team is to drive sustainable growth of this portfolio while managing the losses in line with risk appetite. It is a strategy-oriented role focused on execution which involves working with a many cross-functional teams – product, data, sales, operations, business, etc. Data driven decision are critical to this execution and hence a strong data science, analytics and stats foundation is key.

Help improve risk decisions using internal and external data intelligence. Work is extremely foundational as this space is undergoing a transformation. There is a lot of opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Your day to day
- Part of the transformation team, so defining a new risk management framework - fundamental change to how we assess credit risk for PayPal Large Enterprises and its impact to risk-adjusted-revenue and RAM. We are making the framework more objective driven rather than being driven by underwriter discretion.
- Improve risk data intelligence - both internal payments data components and external data through vendors
- Day to day also involves descriptive, prescriptive analytics, building dashboards for monitoring & reporting
What Do You Need To Bring-
- Job needs analytics, number sense, data story-telling. Ability to think of the big picture (strategic thinking) along with hands on analytics skillset to drive decision making process.
- Cross-functional role - orchestration of the entire risk strategy and working with model builders, product managers, engineers, operations team, data infra teams to execute on the strategy. We are the accountable party.
- Communication is important
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the risk domain associated with payments, fintech, banking or the ecommerce industry
- Experience with technical tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau
