The Cloud-Native Data Engineer oversees the ingestion, transformation, delivery, and movement of data throughout every part of an organization. They extract it from many data sources (Operational and Historical). They load it into data warehouses and data lakes. They transform it for analysts and data science initiatives, massage it for predictive analytic systems, and deliver it for business intelligence dashboards and reporting needs. Data Engineers also are responsible for building efficient operational and historical data models and will rely heavily on a solid cloud-based DataSecOps platform to execute the data pipelines and logic that underpin these data models.Join Bend by FNBO’s team to help us revolutionize consumer payments by creating a digital credit card services business. Our Credit Card-as-a-Service (CaaS) platform is a collection of cloud native API products and services that are led by technology and being built with a product mindset; shifting away from how legacy card issuers work today. We are building our platform offering to attract digitally native brand partners who seek best in class API Card Products that can be seamlessly embedded into their digital brand customer experience. The CaaS team operates from a Product-led API first approach working “outside-in” to ensure we are focused on meeting the customers’ needs up front. This means, we obsess over delivering high value experiences for customers and users at each step.

Establish best practices that help engineering ensure our data models (unstructured and structured) are adequately managed, and that they are able to deliver on their vision to automate and orchestrate the data management process within the Bend by FNBO organization
This role is expected to create and own data models for both operational and historical business needs
Incorporate unstructured and/or raw data from operational data sources and models into a data warehouse (data marts) by transforming and mapping data into historical discrete data models
Establish data driven algorithms to help give easier access to raw data.
Establish and identify key relationships between data sources (operational, historical, etc.)
Separate logics into unique metrics and nonunique metrics
Build and Monitor data pipelines (ideally in real-time) with automation and alerting in mind in the event of error conditions and inconsistencies
Ensure the organization’s data lineage, data quality and data governance as a whole is consistent and reliable
Create independent and discrete processes within data models that don’t rely on others. It is important that data sources run and operate independently so one model or data store does not affect another
Create and optimize data retrievals for stakeholders
Identify and communicate data trends and inconsistencies that may impact business goals via soft skills based on stakeholder requirements

Attend daily stand ups and scrum sessions working directly with the product teams using agile practices
Work closely with the Bend by FNBO team members (analysts, engineers, architect, product managers, testers) to achieve continuous improvement as it pertains to data quality, data modeling, data integrations and pipelines, development, deployment and runtime environments
Work with product teams on establishing non-functional requirements for data quality, integration, transformation, modeling and real-time persistent storage of data
Own end-to-end design and implementation of the data “ETL” pipelines between data sources including development, testing, release, and maintenance of pipelines
Analyze the business needs, profile large data sets and build custom data models
Be able to connect industry data to provide analytical insights
Manage integrations with 3rd party data providers, constantly improving the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and quality of the integration
Conduct research for industry and business questions
Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling
Partner with the Analytics team to automate processes that improve data utilization for insights and reporting
Utilize Snowflakes’s native ability to develop governance policies that are easier to apply across disparate needs, and in a centralized way.
Develop data marts which allow partners to connect their reporting tools to our Snowflake account.
Develop, construct, test and maintain data architectures
Align data architecture with business requirements
Use programming languages and cloud-based tools
Use data to discover tasks that can be automated
Deliver updates to stakeholders based on analytics
Be responsive to incident response tickets on data related incidents
