Every Day the BMW Group’s Material Steering departments order over 31 million parts to enable over 31 production locations in 14 countries to build more than 9,000 vehicles a day.

Within this impactful environment, you as a data engineer will be a central cornerstone, laying and developing the data-based groundwork for one of the highest performing supply chains to further advance. Together with an international team of highly selected data scientists, engineers, supply chain experts and creatives, you will develop cutting-edge applications and forecasts to not only solve pressing supply chain problems but to also foster BMW’s leadership in supply chain logistics by taking our global operations to the next data-informed level.

In the product CEDEC (CentralDemandCalculator) we calculate billions of data for the whole BMW Group. To manage these datas it's necessary to build up a structured an highly performant reporting.

To pursue this mission, you will have the opportunity to leverage best-in-class technology to bring about change on a company-wide level. We will create a constant knowledge feed to BMW Management on trends and possibilities for growth in the data engineering space.

Our group is looking for data experts with serious analytical skills and knowledge of cloud environments.

  • You develop and operate data processing pipelines and analytics applications using appropriate AWS services.
  • You implement data delivery solutions to power our internal services (e.g. UI, BI, Analytics) with a focus on scalability, speed, and reliability.

What should you bring along?
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in the development of data and machine learning pipelines (Proficient using Spark/SQL).
  • Master´s degree in computer science, business informatics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics or a comparable course of study.
  • Solid practical experience in Data Engineering, building automated ETL pipelines, data storage/databases/NoSQL and DWH schemas.
  • In-depth knowledge of the AWS stack of data services and cloud engineering (at least one of these: S3, RDS, Athena, Redshift, Glue, etc.) as well asSQL, with Big Data Tools & REST APIs.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages (Python, Java).
  • Experience and interest in the area of Supply Chain Management is a plus.
  • Very fluent English communication skills, preferably good German skills, high social competence and an understanding of the art of explaining complicated things in simple words.
