PURPOSE OF POSITION

Accountable for creating analytics products that improve the strategic use of data across FSRA with a focus on the implementation of business intelligence and analytics priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Works with the Data and Analytics Team to analyze large datasets, data quality and integrity of FSRA data (e.g, program, corporate, etc).

  • Provides input to the development of data integration strategies for relational and non-relational data sources aimed at integrating qualitative and quantitative data from disparate sources across FSRA and to resolve data quality issues

  • Assists with building data models and reporting tools for various data sources and formats to support FSRA program areas with accessing, using and reporting quality data.

  • Collaborates with data users to understand and document business requirements; define, evaluate and recommend data and analytics solutions and identify opportunities to improve data accuracy .

  • Produces insightful reports using data visualization, metrics, and patterns.

  • Develops and maintains metadata repositories (BI data dictionary, reporting catalogue) for use by FSRA management and staff.

  • Develops data collection and management tools, protocols and guidelines to support the data and information management strategy and ensure consistency in the use and access of data? .

  • Develops database, business intelligence and reports using Microsoft SQL server technology or other RDBMS, Statistical software, presentation technologies and techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in information management, computer science, business or other quantitative discipline or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of hands on technical experience with data repositories, BI systems, web content management.

  • Experience with current analytics technologies and tools to manipulate large data sets to analyze, test, validate and report data (e.g. SQL scripting, experience using SQL Server Reporting Services or PowerBI Report Server)

  • Technical experience to integrate data from disparate sources and resolve data quality issues

  • Experience with front-end scripting languages such as CSS/HTML/Java Script an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to manage expectations

  • Excellent oral and written and presentation skills

  • Clear understanding of data architectures and concepts of structured and unstructured data types.

  • Knowledge of statistics and methods for analyzing qualitative and quantitative data

  • Problem solving skills to resolve significant integration and technical issues to address system/application linkages, interdependencies and assess potential impacts

  • High level of attention to details to analyze large datasets, conduct ad-hoc analysis, validate data integrity across systems.

  • Ability to learn new concepts and quickly apply new knowledge.

  • Demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and organization skills
