As the Sensory & Consumer Science R&D team for JDE, our team is responsible for delivering to the business, insightful product & packaging knowledge based on data we generate or collect, analyse and interpret, using well established sensory and consumer methodologies.
As the Modelling-Statistics R&D team for JDE, our team is responsible for delivering a great variety of data analytics using a range of data science skills (including predictive modelling, Machine Learning, Text Analytics, Design of Experiments, sampling…); recommending approaches to share data insights with the other teams, from a broad range of business functions.
In your role as a Data Scientist - Sensory & Consumer R&D Intern, you will be at the interface between these 2 functions: generating models/data analytics that can be used by consumer scientists. You will support the following activities:
- Acquiring data from various data sources and combining them, ready for analysis
- Dashboarding data for hypothesis generation
- Statistically modelling data for insight extraction
- Converting complex outcomes into impactful recommendations
- The project will be delivered within Consumer Science and will drive business decision making.
Do you fulfill the following requirements?
- Background in Statistics / Data Science / Informatics
- Coding experience is preferred (R, SQL, Python…)
- Good organizational skills (organizing, reporting, etc.)
- Good communication skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
You will be able to independently plan and execute experiments related to your project areas, as well as produce technical reports/presentations and periodically communicate key findings to stakeholders. You will be a part of one of the teams within R&D, but also have the opportunity to interact with your peers in other departments within and outside of R&D. In addition, at busy times, you may be expected to support other ongoing project activities outside of your immediate team and, for some disciplines, occasional international travel may be required.
This role is for Master students looking for a 6 months internship at our Utrecht Research and Development Center.
To be successful in this role you need to be enrolled at a University for the whole duration of the internship and this needs to be a mandatory part of your study curriculum. Please note that if you are a non-EU citizen you need to be enrolled at a Dutch University to be considered as a candidate.
The monthly internship allowance is € 450,- for a HBO student or € 500,- for a WO student, based on a fulltime 40 hour workweek. We also provide additional support if daily travelling to work is required. Please do keep in mind that we do not offer relocation and/or accommodation benefits for students coming from abroad. The internship starts at the beginning of March 2022, and is for a period of 6 months.

- 06 December 2021 – If positive outcome, you will receive an online SHL assessment
- 08 December 2021 – end of day due date online assessment
- 13 & 14 December 2021- If Positive, you will receive an invitation for the video interviews
- 16 December 2021 – Video interviews with hiring managers
- 20 & 21 December 2021 – you will receive final outcome and if positive an offer from us
- January-February 2022: Contract stage
- Beginning of March: Start of internship
