Optum Advisory Services is seeking a service-oriented Pharmacy Clinical Data Analyst to facilitate the expansion of clinical insights and adoption of data-driven decision making to support clinical optimization within client health systems. This role will be responsible for leading efforts to liberate data and insights for the entire healthcare delivery system.
Primary Responsibilities
- Participate in efforts to create new analytical insights and capabilities related to clinical effectiveness, quality, outcomes, performance, in the clinical pharmacy analytics domain
- Maintains a basic understanding of data warehouse process, reconciliation process, data QA process and user acceptance testing process
- Understands and can articulate current quality standards in the clinical pharmacy domain to help our partner organizations improve medication related outcomes
- Partner with analytics principals and senior analysts to create solutions that effectively support all known requirements and effectively answer the relevant questions about performance and opportunities for optimization
- Support prioritization efforts of competing business needs within the clinical domain considering resource availability
- Act as a subject matter expert in the best practices of content curation and analytical storytelling for clinical reporting and analytics
- Ensure effective documentation processes throughout all the entire analytical lifecycle
- Collaborate with team members to create content onboarding and rollout strategies that promote the adoption and utilization of new analytical tools, products, or capabilities
- Partner with analytical platform teams, data engineering, and data governance to support analytical best-practices and common standards as it relates to current pharmacy quality standards, analytics, and reporting
- Play an integral role in setting up analytical insights capabilities within the global organization, mentor and groom global talent to support the insights activities

Key Activities
- Participate in the creation and optimization of clinical analytics to support data-driven decision making across the organization with a focus on pharmacy and clinical quality
- Promote the evolution of clinical analytics to increase insight generation, root-cause identification, and best-practice adoption
- Evaluate opportunities to adopt sophisticated analytical models that enable insights and clear actionability to support organizational goals
- Disseminate best practices tailored to all levels of decision making (i.e. from real-time tactical decision making to long-term clinical strategy)
- Coordinates and collaborates with various stakeholder to determine best platform for analytics solutioning
- Creates and runs ad hoc analysis to identify opportunities, trends or help with issue resolution
- Collaborate in the effort to create analytics that supports effective decision making across all health system sites of care (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, ED, physician practice, etc.)
- Partner with analytical platform teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in aggregation and alignment of foundational data assets needed to power clinical analytics
- Partner with other domain teams to infuse clinical, quality, and patient outcome insights into the decision-making process for operational, financial, growth, and other focus areas
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 7years of healthcare experience with knowledge and background in health system pharmacy analytics and / or 7+ years of experience in pharmacy/medication management focused consulting engagements or large internal healthcare projects/programs for health care delivery systems
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience with operational processes and clinical decision making in the various providers within a health care delivery system (e.g., hospitals, medical groups, post-acute care organizations, physician practices, ambulatory surgical centers, etc.)
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience managing analytics projects or initiatives with minimal guidance
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degrees or certifications in Analytics, Public Health, Health Administration, Business, Biological Science, or Data Science
- One or more Epic Certifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of health system pharmacy analytics professional experience (e.g., business intelligence; data mining, aggregation, and enrichment; analytical content creation; analytical storytelling; user requirement gathering; analytical process documentation)
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience writing business logic in SQL, Python, Scala, or other similar coding language
- Depth of experience and proven track record creating and promoting analytics-based decision making within healthcare organizations
- Extensive experience with Epic Clarity data models
- Solid experience with one or more of the following EPIC modules or components: Caboodle, Clarity, Reporting Workbench, Slicer Dicer
- Experience guiding cross-functional efforts, with proven success in creating broad clinical analytics across many provider domains
- Experience in the health care ecosystem, including understanding the relationship between payers and providers, and how analytics enables transformation
- Experience and credibility interacting with all levels of leadership
- Experience creating advanced analytical methodologies or algorithms
- Experience working on a portfolio of analytical capabilities
- Working knowledge of key health management related areas, e.g. pharmacy, network management, value-based care, population health, quality, compliance, provider engagement, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple client initiatives or projects
- Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts verbally and in writing
