Xator is seeking a data engineer to join our team! The data engineer will support INSCOM by building data pipelines and data querying tools. The ideal candidate will be a goal-oriented team player who has a drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques. The candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with several ongoing projects and be able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.


  • Conduct data pipeline/workflow management using tools such as Apache, NIFI, Apache Kafka, Azkaban and Airflow, and cloud services such as AWS, EC2, EMR, RDS, and Redshift.
  • Apply knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed computing, Hadoop cluster management, HDFS, MapReduce, big data querying tools, frameworks, and big data toolkits to query and streamline data retrieval processes.
  • Use SQL to query databases.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Perform root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.


Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge of tools including but not limited to ETL tools, data APIs, data modeling, data warehousing solutions, R, Python, Ruby, C++, Perl, Java, SAS, SPSS, Matlab, Hadoop, and MapReduce.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as D3.js, ggplot, Bokeh.
  • Experience with AWS products related to analytics, compute, database, and machine learning.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline and at least 4 years of related experience, with the last 2 years in a similar data engineering role.


  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline and at least of 6 years of related experience, with the last 2 years in a similar data engineering role.

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications
