Caterpillar Electric Power is on a journey to grow connected asset base and drive customer value by leveraging telematics data to deploy actionable insights through Analytics, Reporting, self-service asset management and condition monitoring. As a Senior data scientist you will build and deploy analytics solutions that drive customer value to our state-of-the-art digital platform, CAT Remote Asset Monitoring application.
The principal responsibility of Senior Data Scientist is to serve as an individual contributor and technical lead on such teams. He or she will participate on cross-functional project teams, provide overall guidance to the technical direction of the project, and mentor Jr Information Scientists on the technical approaches being used to solve a problem presented by a Caterpillar Business Unit or Service Organization, a Caterpillar Dealer, or a Caterpillar Customer.
What will you do?
Develop and implement machine learning algorithms, reports, and visualizations leveraging equipment time series data to make operation more efficient and reliable
Work with business partners to understand informational needs and dive into data to identify insights, ultimately driving sound business decisions
Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in the application of statistical methods and/or digital methods to solve business problems
Coach and mentor Jr Information Scientists in the creation, validation, and application of statistical models, as well as in implementing digital solutions
Participate in 3-4 projects concurrently
Lead and contribute to process improvements, code reviews, standard work, and documentation
What do you need?
Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering, statistics or a similar field and 7-10 years of professional experience (or) Master’s degree and 4-6 years of experience (or) a PhD and 1-3 years of experience
Experience in advance machine learning algorithms, working with API’s and industry standard coding and visualization tools Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake or equivalent
