Regular Work Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm not including unpaid 1 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location: Remote-based, with occasional onsite meetings at Client's downtown Toronto office, on PATH and TTC line.
Responsibilities Summary:
To provide technical support and data cleansing, modelling, analysis and visualization services, to deliver insights and support evidence-based decisions and proposals. Foster relationships with key business users and decision makers to understand business analytics needs.
- Set up data queries; build Extract, Transform and Load (ETLs) processes and data pipelines; automate recurring analyses; and build reusable scripts to speed up future analyses.
- Connect business data with location information, and analyze accordingly.
- Implement changes to existing data measures based on analysis of historical data. Produce data visualization on a range of different data sources, including structured, unstructured, real-time and geospatial.
- Use statistical techniques to ensure high quality analysis. Identify errors and perform data cleansing to ensure accuracy and statistical significance.
- Track and maintain major Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Update KPI decks to outline impactful system changes. Troubleshoot and resolve any data interpretation or reporting issues.
- Research and advise on best practices related to data analysis and data visualization.
- Compile statistical reports based on data analysis, including formatting for aesthetics and structure. Contribute to development of corporate analytical models, dashboards and databases.
- Train team members and other stakeholders on foundational analytics capabilities; guide stakeholders to understand analytics tools and automated dashboards in support of decision making.
- Give presentations at relevant learning networks, meetings and events related to findings and data science.
- Maintain and store data and records in accordance with Information Management best practices and guidelines.
- Additional data and business analysis responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post secondary Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent discipline.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 5+ years of progressive, related work experience in data analytics.
Preferred Sector Experience: Public sector project experience in data and business analysis preferred.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Experience with data analysis and remediation tools including SAP Data Services; SAP Information Steward; SAP Analytics Cloud; Power BI; SQL.
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong business writing and technical/business-process writing skills and experience.
Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Sound knowledge of data mining, data evaluation, data analysis and data visualization methodologies.
- Sound knowledge of theory, principles and concepts of data structures, database design, information retrieval, and data architecture.
- Sound knowledge of theory, principles and methodologies of statistical analysis and research, and of quality assurance methodologies, techniques and practices.
- Sound knowledge of multivariate inferential statistics, i.e. hierarchical linear modelling and data reduction techniques.
- Sound knowledge of information management and data warehousing best practices and processes.
- Project management experience to plan and coordinate the design, development and implementation of systems, databases, and procedures of large-scale assessments.
- Presentation skills to disseminate technical, research, and other reports.
- Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible and reliable.
- Demonstrated team leadership skills; ability to motivate and engage with a wide group of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of seniority.
- Proven ability to respond to sensitive and confidential matters with tact, discretion, and excellent judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
- Advanced organizational, coordinative and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work effectively for self and others, meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills. Excellent listening skills, and the ability to provide and receive effective feedback.
- Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.
