Your new company
Hays Technology has partnered with a major mining organisation based in central Brisbane. We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to work across a number of projects within the organisation. On offer is an initial 12-month contract with the opportunity to have hybrid working arrangements. The expected start date is May/June
Your new role
You will join a team of data scientists and data analysts using structured approaches to optimise equipment maintenance strategies. You will work closely with project leads and subject matter experts to discover opportunities and design solutions using data-driven techniques.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify business and performance improvement opportunities
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the relevant business problems are properly defined
- Investigate complex problems using a structured problem-solving approach
- Write code and conduct analysis utilising a range of technologies and techniques
- Enable performance improvement by producing actionable insight from data
- Confidently present ideas, results, and recommendations to stakeholders at all organisational levels
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary degree in a quantitative field
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with SQL
- Visualisation skills with an ability to tell a story with data
- Have experience in exploring and proposing new ideas that may have benefits for the business
