Collins Aerospace is continuing to grow our Business Intelligence and Data Services to meet current and future business needs. The Data Services team has an immediate need for a Data Engineer to support activities in our Cloud Data Warehouse environment for use across the enterprise to drive the digital transformation of the business. The position will provide well rounded exposure to data warehouse architecture, software engineering, data management, data storage, data compute, distributed systems, modeling, and analysis. This assignment will require the candidate to work seamlessly with members of the Data & Platforms organization and our business partners. As part of the Digital Technologies Data Services team, you'll help drive digital transformation by contributing to our growing Cloud initiative. This initiative is a key component to the enablement of our portfolio of aerospace digital products.
This individual can sit at any Collins Aerospace domestic location or remote.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support the operation of the Cloud Data Warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, Postgres) and Data Lake in a global environment.
Develop views, materialized views, and SQL scripts
Design, and deliver cloud-native, hybrid, and multi-cloud workloads
Migrate enterprise workloads to Snowflake using industry-standard as well as proprietary methodologies
Work with internal business customers and software development teams to gather and document requirements for data publishing and data consumption via data warehouse, data lake, and analytics solutions.
Automate cloud deployments, as well as build CI/CD pipeline to support Cloud-Based workloads
Coordination on migration, architecture, and platform decisions with the digital technology team
Work as a team member across the complete life cycle of delivery including architecture, design, development, test, and document integration solutions, custom development, and data migration elements of business applications
Define and clearly communicate requirements to all stakeholders
Must be able to perform duties with moderate to low supervision
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Must be willing and able to travel 10% of the time
Snowflake is a must have
Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, or Matillion
Strong SQL skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on development experience with SnowSql and Snowflake utilities
Experience in Snowpipe for handling Streaming data is a plus
Experience with cloud-based data warehousing methodologies and modeling techniques
Project experience implementing core infrastructure, networking, and cloud-based services for business teams or consumers
Experience with legacy migrations to Snowflake
Good knowledge of cloud computing
Experience migrating and deploying cloud-based solutions
Experience supporting Production applications or workloads in a cloud-based environment
Useful to have experience with API management and integration (e.g. Apigee)
Experience with any one of the data Virtualization tools like Trino, Starburst, Denodo, Data Virtuality, etc. is a big plus
Experience in Agile development methodologies
Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
