Senior Data Scientist, Cyber Awareness and Education

What is the opportunity?

As Senior Data Scientist, Cyber Education and Awareness, you will help develop next-generation predictive technologies that will allow us better understand, report and pre-emptively mitigate risks associated with human behaviour. Working with datasets from across RBC and the industry you will help design and develop a system to ingest, process, report and address risks while extracting valuable insights needed to deliver an effective cyber awareness and education program, and build upon our behavioural sciences research.

Additionally, you will participate in the development and management processes and help shape and deliver governance for the enterprise wide systems A&E owns and operates. Looking beyond just the data and numbers, you will tie your findings to real-world and actionable programs to be delivered by the team, specifically those that are AI/ machine learning based.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Education and Awareness, you will work in a team involved in actively mitigating risk across RBC, developing and deploying lead-edge communication, awareness and education solutions to predictively and proactively mitigate behavioural risk.

What will you do?

  • Identify data sources that could be of potential use to our research and development efforts.

  • Investigate potential relationships between data and search for correlations that may be indicators or predictors of risk.

  • Collaborate with teams across Global Cyber Security on building a data dictionary and file structure for behavioural risk.

  • Work with the team to design and build a data aggregator that will help ingest, process and automate the delivery of behavioural risk training and education activities for RBC.

  • Provide guidance and expertise on the continued development of enterprise reporting for the anti-phishing program and other awareness activities supporting Data Loss Prevention, Privileged Access Management and targeted role-based risks

  • Work with the team on developing AI and or machine learning techniques, models and applications for identifying high-risk behaviors and activities to help pre-emptively mitigate risks to RBC and its clients.

  • Participate in business strategy planning to help guide the future of Cybersecurity awareness and education at RBC.

  • Help shape and manage A&E’s governance programs.



What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 5 years of experience working and leading in a data sciences, AI or machine learning enterprise setting.

  • Solid understanding of statistics and statistical methods and their practical application in solving real-world/ immediate problems.

  • Experience with global program rollout (needs-analysis, regulatory, localization, etc.)

  • Excellent communication, relationship and vendor management skills.

  • Direct program delivery experience within a technical mixed-skills team environment.

  • Understanding and passion for machine learning/ AI


Nice-to-have

  • Experience with tools such as Beauceron Security and Mathematica.

  • Experience in the banking, regulatory, standards and compliance industry (preferred)
