Data Engineer
Location: Washington DC/Remote
Type: Full Time

BluePath Labs is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our talented Data Science and Applications team in building data-rich applications for a diverse set of public and private sector clients. You will be directly responsible for building the data infrastructure we use to deliver critical solutions for our clients, working with colleagues across the company to gather requirements and build high-performance data systems. We are looking for self-starters with the skills necessary to empathize with the clients' needs, translate technical complexities, develop appropriate solutions, and contribute to the growth of our company. Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable database systems and APIs for data-intensive applications.
  • Develop automated processes for ingesting and manipulating a wide variety of data from multiple sources, including via third-party APIs.
  • Integrate new data management and analytics technologies into existing applications.
  • Work with project teams to develop processes for data acquisition, modeling, analysis, and visualization.
  • Contribute to the design of new products and services based on data analytics.
  • Create custom software tools for connecting database systems with back-end microservices and client-side applications.
  • Stay on top of emerging trends in data-centric technologies and make recommendations to the CTO on ways to improve data acquisition, management, reliability, and quality.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field. Master's a plus.
  • 2+ years of full-time data engineering or similar experience.
  • Experience working with Postgres or similar SQL database platforms. Experience building and maintaining Elasticsearch clusters a plus.
  • Experience with common data tools such as Airflow, Spark, Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Data Studio, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Python required. Experience with other languages, such as Scala a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player who is detailed oriented, focused on solution quality and execution.
  • Comfortable working across a wide range of project sizes and industries.
